CSX Completes Nationwide Deployment of ESC VinTelligent

ALAMEDA, CA - October 25, 2005 - Embarcadero Systems Corp. (ESC), a leader in innovative technology solutions, recently announced the deployment of its ESC VinTelligent at CSX’s nationwide vehicle distribution centers (VDC), which number more than 30.

ESC VinTelligent is a Web-based application designed to optimize automobile handling throughout the entire supply chain. It was implemented at the final CSX site, the Ford Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville recently. This facility produces about 400,000 new vehicles annually. Across CSX’s total Automotive Services Group network, VinTelligent is managing more than five million vehicles annually--more than 14,000 vehicles daily.

CSX commented on the value of VinTelligent to their overall operation.

“Due to the high volume of vehicles, a smooth operation of the VDC is critical to keep up with plant production,” said Andy Strok, CSX vice president-Automotive Service Group. “VinTelligent not only allows us to keep up but to stay ahead by using its advanced planning tools. The average vehicle dwell time at the Kentucky Truck Plant VDC is one and a half days.”

ESC VinTelligent’s advanced tools include Automatic Yard Planning, Dynamic Inventory Reconciliation, Dynamic Rail Load Reconciliation and Unmanned Scanning Stations.
