Embarcadero Systems Corp. Is Selected to Lead Consortium
in Developing Euromax, the Automated Rotterdam Terminal

ALAMEDA, CA - October 20, 2005 - Embarcadero Systems Corp. (ESC), a leading technology solution provider serving the global maritime and intermodal transportation industry, was awarded the role of prime contractor for a consortium to provide the Terminal Operating System (TOS), CATOS, and Equipment Control System (ECS) for Euromax Terminal NV in Rotterdam, a joint venture between Europe Container Terminals (ECT) and APMT (formerly P&O Nedlloyd).

The project was awarded after an intensive seven-month RFP selection process. The consortium won the contract by demonstrating the functional and technical capabilities of the CATOS product and FROG4--the development platform for ECS--and the ESC Project Management and Systems Integration capabilities were superior to the products being offered by other solutions providers.

The terminal will be a fully automated operation with the system responsible for issuing instructions and guiding all the AGVs, ARMGs, and interfacing with the semi-automated QCs.

"The Euromax project is a significant step into the future of global shipping," ESC President Scott Skillman said. "A terminal this size with automated systems will set the pace for efficiency."

In addition to running the Project Management Office, ESC is responsible for all systems integration within the TOS/ECS solution as well as leading the integration process between the TOS/ECS systems and all other terminal automation applications.

The other consortium partners are Total Soft Bank Ltd., providers of the TOS (CATOS), and Frog Navigation Systems BV, the provider of the ECS.

ESC has established a large project office in Rotterdam and is establishing a development center in Bracknell, U.K., to support this and other awarded projects in the region. The Euromax terminal is scheduled to go into operation on Jan. 1, 2008. The consortium will then continue to provide maintenance and support for a five-year period, initially.
