Koopman Car Terminal Successfully Implements ESC VinTelligent with Nissan Integration

ALAMEDA, CA - February 10, 2005 - Embarcadero Systems Corporation (ESC), a leader in innovative technology solutions for the global maritime and intermodal transportation industry, announces the successful implementation of ESC VinTelligent 3.0 at Koopman Car Terminal BV (KCT) in Amsterdam. The completed implementation offers KCT comprehensive terminal management of their largest client, Nissan. With the fully automated ESC VinTelligent, Koopman anticipates processing an estimated 100,000 vehicles in 2005 and providing their customers with increased transport productivity, greater process visibility, and a significant increase in data accuracy.

KCT chose the comprehensive functionality of ESC VinTelligent over developing an in-house system that would have required a significant investment. Now with KCT's premier client, Nissan, fully integrated and managed on the ESC VinTelligent system, KCT is able to manage the cost-per-VIN pricing model and continue to grow their business while efficiently managing their operational costs. KCT will continue to increase the functionality of the installed system over the next 6 months by gradually rolling out new features that weren't available in the system previously provided by Nissan.

"Our focus has been on finding the most effective way to integrate processes with technology. ESC VinTelligent offers us the functionality to achieve seamless integration throughout our car terminal and port-processing business," Mr. Cooiman explained. With the expected increase in process efficiency, KCT anticipates a full return on their investment by the end of 2005, a 10 percent gain in overall productivity in their car transport and port processing business, and an increased competitive advantage in the marketplace.

We are pleased to have Koopman in production with ESC VinTelligent," commented Steven G. Lautsch, Sr. VP Embarcadero Systems Corporation. "We believe that with the use of ESC VinTelligent, Koopman will set the efficiency standard for European auto transporters."

ESC VinTelligent offers the finished auto transportation and processing industry the most comprehensive vehicle management system available. ESC VinTelligent is a web-based application that optimizes vehicle handling at all points throughout the supply chain. The system provides enterprise-level reporting, real-time inventory tracking, and seamless data integration. The system increases auto terminal productivity and data capture accuracy, creating real-time vehicle inventory reconciliation and reduced overall throughput costs.

ESC VinTelligent also manages the job planning and tracking of finished vehicle up-fitting at a vehicle terminal. This capability allows port processors to more effectively manage processing jobs at their vehicle terminal such as the installation of radios, trim packages, or sun roofs, before the vehicle is delivered to the dealer. ESC VinTelligent enables the collection and reporting of real-time data with handheld wireless computers for parts and labor pricing, job orders, and vehicle tracking, thereby increasing overall processing productivity.
