Embarcadero Systems Corp Launches VinTelligent 3.0 with new Port Processor Module

ALAMEDA, CA - December 15, 2004 - Embarcadero Systems Corporation (ESC), a leader in innovative technology solutions for the global maritime and intermodal transportation industry, today announced the release of VinTelligent 3.0, a web-based application designed to optimize automobile handling throughout the entire supply chain. With this release, VinTelligent introduces the Port Processor module that manages the job planning and tracking of finished vehicle up-fitting. This new capability allows port processors to set up processing jobs at the vehicle terminal such as the installation of radios, trim packages, or sun roofs, before the vehicle is delivered to the dealer.

VinTelligent's Port Processor module allows collaborative workflow planning across port processor activities. This module provides manufacturers, dealers, terminal operators, and port processors real-time instructions for vehicles, including the collection and reporting of accurate data for billing, job orders, and tracking. With this new functionality, port processing facilities capture the vehicle information immediately following receipt. This information includes specified alteration and upgrade instructions. During this process, the vehicle remains fully traceable within VinTelligent. Port processors increase their efficiency, and yard managers maintain effective cargo management.

"With the addition of the Port Processor module, ESC's VinTelligent application offers the most complete solution for terminal management of finished vehicles in the industry," explains Steven G. Lautsch, Senior Vice President for ESC. "ESC's goal is to remain focused on end-to-end visibility and overall efficiency of the finished vehicle supply chain. The Port Processor module incorporates a critical function in that chain."

ESC's VinTelligent offers the finished auto transportation and processing industry the most comprehensive vehicle management system available. The system increases auto terminal productivity and data capture accuracy, creating real-time tracking and status reporting for faster vehicle inventory reconciliation and reduced overall throughput costs. Some of the largest transporters of finished vehicles, including rail operators and yard managers have deployed VinTelligent, resulting in increased visibility and inventory control effectiveness.
