Embarcadero Systems Corp. Deploys Vehicle Terminal Management System - VinTelligent™
ALAMEDA, CA - June 4, 2003 -
Embarcadero Systems Corporation (ESC) announced today the successful installation of its VinTelligent™ system, a state-of-the-art, web-based vehicle terminal management system for Auto Resources Group (ARG) at the Florida East Coast Railway (FECR) Auto Ramp in Miami, Florida. VinTelligent is a web-based application designed to manage and track the movement of vehicles through the entire supply chain. The system installed at the FECR Auto Ramp provides: real-time access to railcar and vehicle information, EDI communications, bar coded tags for vehicles in the yard, extensive wireless network coverage, and easy-to-use handheld communications devices.
"Since VinTelligent was replacing the
current terminal system in operation in Miami, a smooth data
conversion was paramount to our project success. We were quite
impressed with the smooth transition and quick start-up,"
said Steve Renne, President, ARG. Renne continues, "In Miami,
ARG will process over 16,000 rail cars carrying in excess
of 190,000 vehicles per year. That's a significant percentage
-- on the order of 40% of all autos shipped to and from South
Florida."
Jeff Torbett, FECR's Marketing Manager, added, "The implementation of ESC's VinTelligent system has provided us and the terminal operator, with an efficient, state-of-the-art system for tracking our customer's vehicles that we just didn't have before."

VinTelligent is a web-based system to manage and track the movement of automobiles and heavy vehicles. The system is scalable to fit medium to very large terminal operations. The technology used provides improved accuracy and speed, reduced delays, reduced handling, and optimal utilization of resources (e.g., personnel, yard and vessel management). VinTelligent provides for Internet browser-based interfaces to the data, allowing personnel, customers, and vendors access to pertinent information anytime and anywhere. State-of-the-art technology and flexible architecture allows VinTelligent to be deployed in the rail, truck, and maritime terminal environments.
